| Mad Tv - Criss Angel Mindfreak: Flavor Flav
|
Mindfreak's very own Criss Angel (Michael McDonald) demonstrates his abilities with sorcery by utilizing the help of "random strangers" in the park consisting of a girl with a shower rod (Crista Flanagan), a toolmaker (Arden Myrin), and a black man (Keegan-Michael Key). The 3 strangers say they have never met, that the entire scenario is not scripted, and that they are not paid to be there. Criss does a trick with the shower curtain that makes Flavor Flav (Jordan Peele) appear, stating he will be his assistant. Criss asks Flavor for his clock, and is slowly getting irritated by Flavor repeating his name. He covers the clock with a silk hander kerchief, that he breaks with a "real hammer" given to him by the toolmaker girl. He "breaks" the clock with the hammer (which is in fact rubber) and after yelling at and making Flavor upset for doing the wrong trick, he gives him back his clock. Criss plans to disappear because he has a date with sorcery, and he can clearly be seen running away in the background. Flavor concludes saying he'll do his own trick called "put a baby in your stomach" and makes out with the blonde girl. |

| The Palaiologos Dynasty of Byzantium
|
The Palaiologoi were the last of the Byzantines (1259-1453), and this video is a tribute to the heroism of these Christians against the hordes of barbaric Turks.
The song is from Pontos, 'Forty Red Apples' (seranta mhla kokkina).
Translation:
Forty Red Apples all tied in a kerchief
Forty loves if you have, you won't find one like me.
Forty Red Apples threaded in a line,
My lamb, take the road tbat will bring you to me.
Come my dear one, come to me,
If you talk to me I'll lose my mind.
I chose this song of Pontos because generally, Pontian music is full of devotion to Christ, and is marked with pain of loss, a reminder for braver and honour, and its dialect is the closest to Ancient Greek. The explanation found in the CD booklet explains the love, the struggle and the courage:
'A love song from Kars. In most of the 84 villages of Kars, the Greeks were in the majority. Though many had settled there of old, it is estimated that during the Russian-Turkish war of 1877, over 70,000 Greeks sought refuge in Kars region. Generally, either due to immigration or changes in the borders, more than 700,000 Greek-Pontians were to be found in Russian territories. If we add those already living there since antiquity, Byzantine and post-Byzantine times, the total Greek population in Russia was well over one million.'

| O'Rourke's Revel Rout
|
O'Rourke's revel rout let no person forget
Who has been, who will be, or never was yet
There's seven score hogs in the morning we slay
With bullocks and sheep for the feasting each day
There's whiskey a plenty for 100 cups
In the morning we rise to be sure they're filled up
My breeches are gone, my pipe it is broke
My pocket is picked, where the devil's my cloak?
My kerchief is lost and my coat is not on
Seven blessings be with them, my garters are gone
Come strike up the harp, for dancing please play
And give us a toast to start off the day
A-shaking their feathers, just roused their sleep
By sounds of the harp and the stamping of feet
The sons of O'Rourke bounced up in a throng
Each man with his woman and danced to the song
The ground held up well 'neath their frolics and shouts
Every shoe filled with tapping, each cup with good stoat
Long life and god health to you, to you mister Finnegan
And by my hand, you dance well mistress Grinigan!
Here to you friend, oh here's to your health
Now take hold of this bowl and drink of the wealth
Come revel with us, be hearty and hale
And bring us our fill of good honest ale. |

A kislány fején fehér virágokból kötött bérmakoszorú a bérmakeresztanyján pedig fehér kendő. Figyelemre méltó a kendő szépen igazított viselete.
A fényképen ábrázolt kislány azóta nagymama, és Gesztén él a családjával.

| The Christmas Puppy
|
Dogs should not be treated as gifts that you give to a kid that will like it for maybe a whole month, then push it to the side.
I STRONGLY discourage getting Christmas Puppies.
THINKG before you DO.
Ok, since youtube decided to kill the text, here's the poem I used:
TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS:
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
With no thought of the dog filling their head.
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Knew he was cold, but didn't care about that.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Figuring the dog was free of his chain and into the trash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Santa Claus - with eyes full of tears.
He unchained the dog, once so lively and quick,
Last years Christmas present, now painfully thin and sick.
More rapid than eagles he called the dogs name.
And the dog ran to him, despite all his pain;
"Now, DASHER! now, DANCER! now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
On, COMET! on CUPID! on, DONNER and BLITZEN!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Let's find this dog a home where he'll be loved by all"
I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year,
For Santa Claus had made one thing quite clear,
The gift of a dog is not just for the season,
We had gotten the pup for all the wrong reasons.
In our haste to think of a gift for the kids
There was one important thing that we missed.
A dog should be family, and cared for the same
You don't give a gift, then put it on a chain.
And I heard him exclaim as he rode out of sight,
"You weren't giving a gift! You were giving a life!" |

Napra - Kalotaszegi hajnali és szapora
Album: Jaj, a világ
Felvétel: 2007. július 28, Öcs Faluház
(Művészetek Völgye)
Zenekar honlapja:
www.napra.hu
www.myspace.com/napra
Kék virágos a mérai temető.
Engem temessenek oda legelőbb,
Engem előbb, azután a babámat,
Ne keressen más szeretőt magának!
Háromszor is elindultam s elmentem,
Ablakidhoz még közel se mehettem,
A kapuba' úgy elfogott valami,
Fáj a szívem, meg kéne gyógyítani!
A kapuba' úgy elfogott valami,
Fáj a szívem, mért tudtalak szeretni!
Ide lábom, ne oda,
Ne a szomszéd faluba!
Mer' a szomszéd faluba' nincs ilyen jó muzsika!
Én Istenem vigyél oda, hova a szívem gondolja!
Előre, csak előre, lássuk mi lesz belőle!
-----------------------------------------
Double rainbows, double rainbows enwreathe the sky serenely,
A proud young lad from my village has deceived my heart keenly.
Yet, for that, I do not curse him, the Lord above should bless him!
May his kerchief never dry out from the tears that oppress him.
Blue flowers bloom in the Méra cemetery,
The first one to be buried there should be me.
I should be first followed by my tenger dove,
So he should not find himself another love!
Three times I tried setting out and then I left,
But not ever near your window could I step.
At the front gate some strange feeling grew so strong,
How my heart aches, I must soothe it to go on!
At the front gate sime strange feeling grew so strong,
How my heart aches, why did I love you so long!
Here, my feet, not there, I say,
Not the village up the way,
In the village up the way, such good music is not played!
My Lord above, deliver me, to where my heart now longs to be!
Straight ahead, go straght ahead, the we'll see where it has led! |

| Schede Sassaresi: Deus ti Salvet Maria
|
The festa of the Vergine dei Sette Dolori was an opportunity of seeing the costume of the district...the female of the upper classes appeared on this occasion in mourning, and made a strong contrast with the dresses of the peasant. The prevailing fashion was a short bodice of bright coloured cloth, laced up before and behind, fitting tightly to the waist, one just high enough to support the bosom. A loose red jacket, with trimmings, endings, and lacings, silver buttons and cards, and half way open down the arm, and extremely full petticoat of yellow or some other colour, in contradistinction to the jacket and bodice, and finally a white kerchief thrown lightly over the head, completed the costume.
One of the Eastern custom is the peregrination of the Viandanti dressed in embroided yellow leather waistcoast and apron, with large cloacks and hats, a custome evidently of Spanish origins. They collect fruit, bread, and other provisions, and carry them in large basket to the prisoners in confinement on this period.

Pink tender hand, / yellow-corded wine, /city crammed with spring hues, willow by garden wall:/ east winds hateful, the one I loved, cold--/ a heart all sadness, parted how many years? / wrong! wrong! wrong!
spring as always/ someone grown needlessly thin, /red tear stains wet the kerchief, soaking through mermaid gauze,/ Peach petals falling, / stillness of a pond pavillion:/ mountain-firm vows go on forever, / but a letter woudl be useless now--/ don't, don't, don't! |
